Baby Pinkness

Grand Prismatic

One of the oddest and most fascinating birds in the world is the flamingo. Looking like they were made with a few feathers, some rebar, and a flexible hose they defy all logic. Yet they are supremely adapted to their way of life. Their almost comical pink coloring comes from the shrimp that they eat throughout their life. The newly hatched flamingo here looks almost normal...but that will change. One day he too will sprout up on his rebar legs, tout his flexible hose neck and strain the water for shrimp. It is kind of ironic that their "awkward baby stage" is when they most resemble the bird they are.
